A message from our Principal:

Its 7:40 in the morning and the shrill echo of the bell breaks the various conversation threads that populate the staffroom.  As one by one, we exit, we are welcomed by the hum of hundreds of girls in their blue and green shirts, engaged in light-hearted banter, giggles and polite good morning greetings.  Each day, I marvel at the wonders that this cocoon of a school produces as we are enveloped by the warmth and understanding of a building that can only be described as a grand old lady.

Russell High has been my home for the last 21 years, and over these years we have held steadfast in our belief that the business of educating young ladies from diverse backgrounds is not just about academics, but about imparting knowledge and skills that will enable them to function effectively in an ever-changing world.  Our vision, “Education with Heart”, aims to motivate and enthuse learners to put their heart and soul in everything they do whilst fostering a climate of tolerance, co-operation, empathy and mutual respect.  We recognise that learners as individuals are unique but within this uniqueness lies the key to a treasure chest that unlocks the true potential of each learner and paves the path to success.

Each year at Senior Prize giving, as I watch our matriculants humbly strut onto the stage to receive their various accolades, my heart swells with pride, as I reflect on the 5 years that have catapulted young teenage girls into capable, responsible, young ladies who have enjoyed and benefitted from every facet of life at this school and are now well prepared to navigate the real world.  I cast a glance at our other precious commodity at Russell, our staff, and note the sense of achievement and satisfaction on their faces at the countless, dedicated hours they have spent preparing and  investing in young ladies, that  are now paying off exponentially.  145 years later and still always prepared-Semper Parata!
